Hi there,

I have been a Performance Co-Pilot user and fan since the SGI days...

I was wondering where I could help? Maybe on the pmview side, that's a
personal favourite to be honest. Saw you guys made the move to Qt (from
Inventor). How was it?

Finally, I am strongly thinking of defaulting all MaXX Desktop
perf+monitoring tools to PCP. I mean gmemusage, gr_osview and
maxx_monitor(new). Will be way more efficient and the 'proper' way.

Here are two links for my project MaXX Desktop :

Keep doing what you do, it's an awesome set of technologies

Regards,

Somewhere you're interested would be the best place - pmview, possibly
pmgadgets too from the sound of things.

The ports from IRIX of both of these tools are in various states of
completion
and the code for both is in the PCP git repo on github. (code is there but
they're not enabled in the build - although pmview may be if all pre-reqs
are
found IIRC).

A prototype version of pmview was once made to work on Linux, some years
ago now, but work remains to bring it back to its former glory.

Saw you guys made the move to Qt (from Inventor). How was it?
Qt has proven a good choice as general windowing library over the years.

For pmview, there was a need for an Inventor (3D scene graph) API also.
The above-mentioned prototype used Coin3D as it interfaces to Qt and is
also API-compatible with Inventor.

The area that was not completed was correct integration with pmtime(1),
so that'd be the place to start with reviving the pmview effort I think.

Finally, I am strongly thinking of defaulting all MaXX Desktop

Those of us (mostly me) that are still with SGI (inside HPE) would be happy to
offer our expertise, but sadly, we don't have much. I think what Eric is doing
is splendid. If you can point to specifics where you need questions answered
I can try to find them however it's going to be hard to find the people that might know.
